Ingredients

  • 4 ripe Roma tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 small red onion, finely chopped
  • 1–2 jalapeños, seeded and chopped (adjust to heat preference)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • Salt to taste (start with 1/2 tsp)
  • Optional: 1/2 tsp ground cumin for extra depth
  • Optional: 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (for more saucy texture)

Directions

  1. Combine ingredients:
In a mixing bowl or food processor, combine tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, garlic, and cilantro.
  2. Blend or chop:
    • For chunky salsa: stir everything together by hand.
    • For smooth salsa: pulse in a food processor until desired texture.
  3. Add lime & season:
Stir in lime juice, salt, and cumin (if using). Adjust seasoning to taste.
  4. Chill:
Let salsa rest in the fridge for 30 minutes (if you can wait!) to let flavors meld.
  5. Serve:
Enjoy with chips, on tacos, over grilled chicken, or spooned over eggs!
