A refreshing Southern classic with a fruity twist! This strawberry-infused sweet tea is perfect for warm days, backyard gatherings, or anytime you need a cool, flavorful sip.
Ingredients
- 4–6 black tea bags (family-size or regular)
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 8 cups water, divided
- ½ teaspoon baking soda (optional, reduces bitterness)
- Ice, for serving
- Fresh mint or strawberry slices, for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Boil the Water & Brew Tea:
In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags and baking soda (if using), and steep for 10–15 minutes. - Make the Strawberry Syrup:
While tea steeps, combine strawberries and sugar in a separate saucepan with 1 cup of water.
Bring to a simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes until strawberries are soft and syrupy.
Use a spoon or potato masher to break them up, then strain through a fine mesh sieve. - Combine & Chill:
Remove tea bags from brewed tea. Add the strawberry syrup to the tea concentrate and stir well.
Pour into a pitcher and add the remaining 3 cups cold water. Stir, taste, and adjust sweetness if needed. - Serve:
Chill in the fridge until cold. Serve over ice and garnish with mint or sliced strawberries if desired.
