Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp cooking oil
1 small onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper (add more if you like it spicy)
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Sauce:
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
1 tbsp cornstarch
¼ cup water or beef broth
1 tsp sesame oil
Instructions:
Brown the beef:
Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat if needed.
Add aromatics:
Add onion and garlic. Cook for 2–3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
Toss in the peppers:
Add bell peppers and cook another 3–4 minutes until slightly tender but still crisp.
Make it saucy:
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, and water. Pour over the beef mixture.
Finish with pepper:
Stir well until the sauce thickens and everything’s coated evenly. Add black pepper and red pepper flakes to taste.
Serve hot:
Spoon over steamed rice or noodles, and garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if you’ve got them. Enjoy!
