Outback Steakhouse Alice Springs Chicken (Copycat Recipe)

A juicy grilled chicken breast topped with honey mustard, mushrooms, bacon, and melted cheese — just like the restaurant favorite, but made right at home!

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Colby Jack or cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

For the Honey Mustard Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Directions

  1. Make the honey mustard sauce:
In a small bowl, whisk together mayo, Dijon mustard, honey, and lemon juice. Set aside or chill until ready to use.
  2. Season and cook the chicken:
Season both sides of chicken breasts with salt and pepper. In a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat, cook chicken in olive oil for 6–7 minutes per side, or until fully cooked. Remove from heat.
  3. Sauté the mushrooms:
In the same pan, add sliced mushrooms and cook until tender and browned (about 5 minutes). Set aside.
  4. Assemble:
Place cooked chicken breasts on a baking sheet or oven-safe dish.
    • Spread a generous spoonful of honey mustard on each piece.
    • Top with sautéed mushrooms.
    • Add 2 slices of bacon per breast.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the top.
  5. Broil to melt cheese:
Broil for 2–3 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  6. Garnish and serve:
Sprinkle with chopped parsley (optional) and serve with extra honey mustard sauce on the side.
