Crispy Puff Pastry Parcels

Golden, flaky puff pastry filled with your choice of savory or sweet fillings. Crisp on the outside and deliciously warm and soft inside — these are the perfect bite-sized delights!

Ingredients

For Savory Filling (Example: Spinach and Feta):

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup spinach, wilted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

For Sweet Filling (Example: Apple Cinnamon):

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 apple, peeled and diced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Directions

1. Prepare the Filling (Savory or Sweet):

  • For Savory:
    • In a pan, sauté onions and garlic in a little olive oil until softened. Add spinach and cook until wilted. Let cool, then mix in feta, mozzarella, and season with salt and pepper.
  • For Sweet:
    • In a small saucepan, melt butter and sauté diced apple until softened. Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Stir until the apples are caramelized. Let cool.

2. Assemble the Parcels:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut into squares or rectangles, depending on the size of parcels you prefer.
  • Spoon a generous amount of the filling into the center of each pastry square.

3. Shape the Parcels:

  • Fold the pastry over the filling to form a triangle or rectangle, sealing the edges by pressing with a fork.
  • Brush the tops with a beaten egg (egg wash) to give them a golden, crispy finish.

4. Bake:

  • Place the parcels on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until golden and puffed up.

5. Serve:

  • Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with a dipping sauce or as a snack on their own.
