- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions:
Prepare the Caramel:
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon or heatproof spatula.
- Continue to cook the sugar, stirring frequently, until it melts completely and turns into a deep amber color. Be cautious as the sugar will be extremely hot.
- Carefully add the unsalted butter to the melted sugar and stir until the butter is completely melted and incorporated.
- Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring constantly. The mixture will bubble vigorously, so be cautious.
- Once the cream is fully incorporated, continue to cook the caramel for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove it from heat.
- Stir in the pure vanilla extract, and let the caramel cool for a few minutes. It will thicken as it cools.
