Chicken Parmesan Calzone

A crispy golden crust filled with juicy chicken, marinara sauce, and gooey cheese—this Chicken Parmesan Calzone is the ultimate comfort food! Perfect for a quick dinner or game-day snack, it’s everything you love about Chicken Parmesan wrapped in warm, flaky dough.


Ingredients:

  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup cooked chicken (grilled or breaded, diced)
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp dried basil
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • ¼ cup ricotta cheese (optional for extra creaminess)

Directions:

  1. Preheat & prepare:
    Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the dough:
    On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a 10–12 inch circle (about ¼-inch thick).
  3. Assemble the filling:
    • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce over one half of the dough (leaving a 1-inch border).
    • Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
    • Add cooked chicken evenly over the cheese.
    • If using, dollop ricotta cheese on top for a creamier texture.
    • Season with garlic powder, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Seal the calzone:
    • Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape.
    • Press the edges together and crimp them tightly with a fork or twist them to seal.
  5. Egg wash & toppings:
    • In a small bowl, whisk 1 egg with 1 tbsp water.
    • Brush the egg wash over the calzone to give it a golden, crispy crust.
    • Sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese and oregano for extra flavor.
  6. Bake:
    • Transfer to the baking sheet and bake for 18–22 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Serve & enjoy!
    • Let cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
