Delightful Ambrosia Salad

A light and creamy fruit salad made with a medley of tropical fruits, marshmallows, and a fluffy whipped dressing. This classic Southern dessert is perfect for potlucks, holidays, or any sweet occasion!


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 1 can (11 oz) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 can (8 oz) crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 ½ cups mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, halved and drained
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Mix the Base:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine sour cream and whipped topping. Stir gently until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add the Fruit and Extras:
    • Fold in the mandarin oranges, crushed pineapple, mini marshmallows, coconut, and cherries. If using nuts, stir those in as well.
  3. Chill:
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to let the flavors meld and the salad firm up a bit.
  4. Serve:
    • Stir once more before serving. Scoop into bowls or serve it buffet-style. Garnish with extra cherries or coconut if desired.
