Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cups finely sliced onion (from 1 large onion)
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
- Garlic powder and kosher salt
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 8 slices rye bread
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 8 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced
Preparation:
- Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and caramelize them by cooking for 20-25 minutes, stirring regularly, until they are very brown. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- While the onions are caramelizing, heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the skillet.
