Fried Shrimp with Spicy Sauce

Enjoy this delicious recipe for crispy fried shrimp paired with an irresistible spicy dipping sauce. Perfect as an appetizer or a tasty snack!

Ingredients :

For the fried shrimp:

  • 500 g (1 lb) raw shrimp, peeled (tail on or off)
  • 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (60 g) cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the spicy sauce:

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • A pinch of smoked paprika

Directions :

Prepare the fried shrimp:

  1. Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs with the milk.
  4. Dip each shrimp into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and back into the flour mixture. Shake off any excess.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to 180°C (350°F).

Cook the shrimp:
6. Fry the shrimp in small batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

Prepare the spicy sauce:
7. In a bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients until smooth. Adjust the spice level to your liking.

Serve:
8. Arrange the fried shrimp on a platter and serve with the spicy dipping sauce on the side. Enjoy while hot!
