Million Dollar Mac & Cheese

This indulgent mac & cheese combines creamy goodness with three cheeses and a golden, crispy topping. It’s rich, cheesy, and a true showstopper for any occasion!

Ingredients:

For the Pasta:

  • 16 oz elbow macaroni (or your favorite pasta)
  • Salt for boiling water

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Directions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Cheese Sauce:
    • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
    • Gradually pour in the milk and cream, whisking to combine. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes.
    • Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard (if using), salt, and pepper.
    • Remove from heat and stir in cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses until melted and smooth.
  3. Combine Pasta and Sauce:
    • Add the cooked pasta to the cheese sauce and mix well to coat.
  4. Assemble the Dish:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Pour the mac & cheese mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Prepare the Topping:
    • In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with melted butter, Parmesan cheese, and paprika (if using).
    • Sprinkle the topping evenly over the mac & cheese.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crispy.
  7. Cool and Serve:
