These homemade mozzarella sticks are crunchy on the outside, melty on the inside, and completely addictive. Perfect for parties, game days, or just a fun snack—you’ll never want frozen ones again!
Ingredients
- 12 mozzarella string cheese sticks (cut in half for smaller portions)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp milk
- 2 cups Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
Directions
- Prep the cheese:
Cut mozzarella sticks in half if desired and freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps prevent cheese from melting too quickly while frying. - Set up breading station:
- Bowl 1: Flour
- Bowl 2: Eggs + milk, whisked
- Bowl 3: Breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt & pepper
- Coat the sticks:
Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour, dip into the egg mixture, then coat with breadcrumbs. For an extra crispy crust, repeat the egg and breadcrumb step again. Freeze for another 20 minutes. - Fry:
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep pan. Fry cheese sticks in small batches for 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan. - Drain & serve:
Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce or ranch dip.
